To lead a healthy life you need a healthy diet. Good health is something which solely depends on what you eat and how much we take care of our self. A balanced diet is very important for every individual to work and lead a healthy life. A truly balanced diet will include protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals and even fats. It must contain all these things in correct proportions.
The following healthy eating guidelines will help you understand the importance of balanced diet in the life of a person.
1) Eat at least three meals a day.: Everyone needs to plan their meals. You need to make sure that you are getting enough nutrients from the different foods you eat. By skipping meals you can actually put on weight and your body will have too little energy. Each day you should be eating three meals and two snacks. It helps if you eat them at the same time each day.
2) variety Is Key: You need to have different varieties of food every day. Your body will lack all the nutrients it needs if you eat just one or two things.
3) Don’t ban Foods: Do not ban anything from your diet unless you are allergic or intolerant to it. You will be more tempted to eat a lot if it is banned. If you fancy something sweet when you are out and about with friends, get the sweet muffin with your coffee that you have been craving. So long as you don’t have a muffin every day, you will not put on loads of weight or get ill. After a healthy meal, if you want something sweet then have a small portion of cake or a cookie, it does not mean you are eating badly.
4) Avoid consuming Sugar: Try to avoid sweet foods as much as you can because it will negatively affect your energy levels. You can rather have fresh fruits or high protein snack instead. But remember that you can have the odd muffin without damaging effects.
5) Drink sufficient water: As far as your health is concerned; water is crucial. You should drink a steady supply of water throughout the day, every day. Drink more water as compared to fresh juices and fizzy drinks.
6) Avoid Bad Fats: Fried food, junk food, butter and spread all contain high levels of fat which should be avoided. The amount of fat in them makes these foods bad for your heart and blood pressure. However you can choose fats that are healthy for your heart such as salads, nuts, olives, avocados and vegetable oil.
